About Us

Decades of Dedication. Thousands Transformed.

The Chief J.O. Omuya Foundation is a charitable organization founded on the belief that sustainable change begins with education, empowerment, and access to opportunity. Since 2014, we have been on a mission to transform lives across Nigeria through scholarships, skills training, and community support programs that uplift the underserved and unlock human potential.
What started as a personal commitment to give back has grown into a movement that supports students, artisans, and families across rural and urban communities. We are more than just a foundation—we are a bridge to brighter futures.

Brief History

A Legacy of Giving. A Future of Hope.

Chief J.O. Omuya Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), was established and incorporated in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on 1st February, 2012 in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by Chief Joshua Ozigi Omuya to promote welfare activities aimed at alleviation of human suffering and amelioration of underdevelopment of the society with particular reference to offering scholarships to indigent but brilliant students and orphans at both secondary and tertiary levels of education; providing modest lifeline for widows; as well as extending support to evangelism. Chief Ozigi Joshua Omuya, an Orphan, who had gone through the pangs or orphanage, knew too well how it feels to be an orphan and as he elbowed his way from grass to grace, he experienced some milestone of benevolence from some public-spirited individuals who he never met previously.
Fired by immense sense of appreciation, he resolved, albeit quietly, right from his early work life in 1978 to give back to the society in his own little way, the favours he had received from the society and for over three decades, Chief Omuya developed the penchant for offering scholarships to children who were in the precarious situation similar to his, when he was a young college boy. He has given similar support to widows to alleviate such sufferings that his own mother had also gone through. All these, he was doing with absolute blindness to religions or ethnic sentiments to reflect the true spirit of his own background. However, looking back at the enormous influence that his Christian faith had on him as a devout Anglican; he combined his charity activities with evangelism.
As he clocked 60 on February 9, 2014, Chief Omuya formally institutionalized his charity, Christened – Chief J.O Omuya Foundation. The Foundation’s values for excellence shall be premised on Honesty, Integrity, Sincerity and Transparency.
The scholarship scheme of the Foundation covers public secondary schools and tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
